Tipperary Camogie wishes to extend its deepest sympathies following the passing of former Uachtarán an Chumainn Camógaíochta, Liz Howard.

A proud Tipperary woman and one of the great servants of camogie and Gaelic Games, Liz dedicated her life to the promotion and development of our game at club, county and national level.

Liz made an enormous contribution to Tipperary Camogie both on and off the field. As a player, she enjoyed many great days with Feakle (Clare), Roscrea and Knockshegowna (Tipperary), Celtic and Phoenix (Dublin). While at intercounty level she won a national senior league medal with Tipperary and an All-Ireland junior medal with Dublin. Away from the playing field, her influence as an administrator, mentor and leader was immense.

In 2006, Liz became the first Tipperary woman elected President of the Camogie Association, a role she fulfilled with distinction and pride. She also served the Association in numerous other capacities over many years and was a passionate advocate for the growth and promotion of camogie throughout Ireland.

Liz was also a pioneering figure within Gaelic Games media, becoming the first female analyst on RTÉ’s The Sunday Game, while her long service as PRO of Tipperary GAA earned her huge respect across the sporting community.

Tipperary Camogie extends its sincere condolences to Liz’s family, friends, former colleagues and all who mourn her passing, especially her many friends throughout the camogie and GAA community.
