Nenagh Éire Óg will be the setting for an eagerly anticipated showdown this Saturday as Our Lady’s Templemore and Portumna Community School battle it out for the Post Primary Schools All-Ireland Senior C title. Reaching this stage is a huge achievement for both schools. Our Lady’s Templemore bring valuable experience, having claimed the Munster and All-Ireland D titles last year. They have continued their remarkable progress by reaching another All-Ireland final despite stepping up a grade this season.

The Templemore school are captained by twins Caithlyn and Stephanie Tracey, key players from Moneygall. They are backed by a strong and well-balanced team, including Ciara Cahill and Laurie Mullen (Drom-Inch), Michelle Lee and Annie Phelan(Slieve Felim), Aoibhe Mathews (Roscrea) and Julie Grey and Kate Nevin (Templemore).  The team is managed by Avril Kinnerk and their resilience was on full display in their hard-fought semi-final victory over Heywood of Laois.

There is Tipperary interest in the Portumna side as well, with Emma Kennedy, a Tipperary minor, a key player for the Galway school. While Jimmy Dunne of Lorrha Camogie Club, is over the team adding another layer of intrigue to this final.

With two talented teams and plenty of local connections, anticipation is high for what promises to be a tight and thrilling battle on Saturday. The game throws in at 2pm on Saturday in Nenagh Eire Og GAA  with entry at the gate.
