FBD Insurance Senior Semi-Finals

Saturday 12th October County Camogie Grounds

1pm – Drom-Inch vs Clonoulty Rossmore

The stage is set for another thrilling encounter in the FBD Insurance Senior Camogie Championship as Drom-Inch and Clonoulty Rossmore meet in the semi-final on Saturday, 12th October, at 1 pm in the County Camogie Grounds. This match is a repeat of the last four county finals, all won by Drom-Inch, adding an extra layer of intensity to this much-anticipated showdown.

Drom-Inch come into the semi-final in strong form, having topped their group, and secured a 2-15 to 8 point win over Shannon Rovers in the quarter-final, although they didn’t get it all their own way in that game. Clonoulty Rossmore, after finishing second in their group having lost their opening game to Thurles Sarsfields earned their place by defeating Eire Og Annacarty in a hard-fought quarter-final battle.

Both teams, however, face injury concerns, with key players Eimear McGrath (Drom-Inch) and Casey Hennessy (Clonoulty Rossmore) likely to miss out. These absences could play a significant role in the outcome of the game.

For Drom-Inch, players like Mairead Eviston, Niamh Treacy, Aoife McGrath, and Mary Bourke will be crucial to maintaining their dominance. On the other hand, Clonoulty Rossmore will look to Cait Devane, Clodagh Quirke, Eimear Loughman, and Sarah Fryday to challenge Drom-Inch's reign and book their place in the final.

With history, form, and injuries all in play, this promises to be another fierce contest between two of the top-tier teams in Tipperary camogie.

3.45pm – Thurles Sarsfields vs Cashel King Cormacs

The second semi-final of the FBD Insurance Senior Camogie Championship promises to be an exciting clash as Thurles Sarsfields take on Cashel King Cormacs on Saturday, 12th October, at 3:45 pm in the County Camogie Grounds. Both teams will be eager to secure their spot in the final, making this encounter a must-watch in the championship.

Thurles Sarsfields come into the match in flying form, having been unbeaten in this year’s championship and regularly posting impressive scorelines. Their quarter-final victory over Knockavilla was comfortable, further solidifying their status as one of the favorites. Thurles will be eager to continue their dominant run, with key players like Karen Kennedy leading the charge. Additionally, minor All-Ireland winners Caoimhe Stakelum and Lucy Purcell have been outstanding throughout the campaign, adding strength and flair to their squad.

Cashel King Cormacs, on the other hand, have shown remarkable improvement from last year when they were fighting a relegation battle. They finished third in their group and are peaking at the right time, as demonstrated by their impressive 3-16 to 1-10 quarter-final win away to Burgess Duharra. Although they lost to Thurles in the group stages, they’ve been steadily improving and won't fear last year’s beaten semi-finalists. Philly Fogarty and Caoimhe Perdue have been causing problems for defenders, while Sorcha Ryan, the Fahie twins Lily and Anna, and All-Star nominee Karin Blair have also been standout performers for Cashel.

This match has all the ingredients for a thrilling contest, with Thurles Sarsfields' unbeaten record and Cashel King Cormacs' resurgence setting the stage for a competitive and high-quality semi-final battle.
