Tipperary Camogie Feile na nGael 2023
On Easter Monday a great day of camogie was had in venues throughout the county for Feile na nGael 2023. Despite some heavy showers the rain couldn’t dampen the spirit of the players and supporters and didn’t effect the superb camogie on display. At the end of the day Boherlahan Dualla were crowned division A champions for the second year in a row while Shannon Rovers won the division B final. The division C semi-finals and final will take place this coming Saturday. Thanks to all the organisers, co-ordinators and referees who made the day a great success
Division A/B
Borrisoleigh, Boherlahan and Toomevara hosted the division A and B teams. In Boherlahan Dualla after the group games were played the homeside finished on top with Newport Ballinhainch in second spot ahead of Cahir in 3rd and Brian Borus 4th. This meant Boherlahan Dualla qualified for the A semi-final while Newport Ballinhainch went through to the B semi-final. In Borrisoleigh after a great morning of camogie Slieve Felim and Silvermines topped their groups to qualify for the A semi-finals while runners up Borris-Ileigh and Holycross Ballycahill made it through to the B semi-finals. In Toomevara the home team finished top of the group ahead of Shannon Rovers while Burgess Duharra finished in 3rd place. So Toomevara qualified for A semi final while Shannon Rovers progressed to the B semi-final. In the A semi-finals Boherlahan Dualla were too strong for Toomevara while Silvermines defeated Slieve Felim 4-06 to 2-0. While in Borrisoleigh in the B semi-finals Holycross Ballycahill defeated Borris-Ileigh and Shannon Rovers were winners over Newport Ballinahinch

Shannon Roveres started strong and went ahead by 2points as half time approached. However a goal from Holycross Ballycahill’s Jade Browne Carney from a free just before the break put Holycross up by a point 1-1 to 3points. The Rovers who had the advantage of the wind in the second half had to work hard to get back into the lead. In defence Anna Kennedy was excellent, making some fine clearances. Ally Mulvihill held her own in centre back and scored a great goal from a free. The mid field pairing of Emma Costello and Clodagh Davis worked well throughout the game. Up front Amy Carroll and McKenzie Simmons were strong and powerful. While Aoibheann Haugh caused alot of the trouble for the opposition defence. The game though could have gone either way and full credit to both teams for their efforts however Shannon Rovers just took their chances that bit better and defended heroically especially towards the end.

Division A Final
Boherlahan Dualla 4-04

Boherlahan Dualla were crowned 2023 division A Feile na nGael winners after surviving a great test with Silvermines. Despite a long day of group games and semi-finals both teams served up a highly entertaining and hard fought final. Silvermines got off to a great start and had 1-01 scored before Boherlahan got off the mark. Silvermines goal coming from Grace Quinn and the point courtesy of Saoirse Ryan who finished with 4 points in total, 2 from play and 2 from frees. Goals from Sarah Murphy and Grace Power who were impressive throughout, helped to give Boherlahan a 2 point lead at half time on a scoreline of 2-2 to 1-3. Silvermines Ailbhe Treacy with a superb score just before half time to narrow Boherlahan’s lead.
The second half resumed with even more intensity as both sides produced some great displays throughout the 15 minutes . Midway through the half only 2 points separated the sides with Boherlahn in front 3-3 to 2-4. Silvermines pushed hard to find a further score but the Boherlahan Dualla defence stood firm especially Evanne Gleeson and Brid Quirke in the half back line who worked tirelessly to repel countless Silvermines attacks. In the end it was Boherlahan who got in for another crucial goal which proved to be the difference and they won on a final scoreline of 4-04 to 2-04. Their crucial second half goals coming from Abbie Horgan and Leah Hickey.

Division C
The division C group games were held in Dundrum, Portroe, Gortnahoe and Moyle Rovers. In Portroe Drom-Inch had 3 wins from 3 against Lorrha, Portroe and Templemore to secure top spot and a place in the semi-final. Four clubs battled it out in Gortnahoe, Moyne Templetuohy, St Patrick’s, Ballingarry and Gortnahoe Glengoole. After some great games it was St Patrick’s who finished on top to reach the semi-finals. In Dundrum Thurles Sarsfields, Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams, Eire Og Annacarty and Clonoulty Rossmore played 3 games each with Thurles topping the group to qualify for Saturday’s semi-finals. Finally in Monroe Moyle Rovers, Rockwell Rovers Cashel King Cormacs and St Rita’s Fethard made up the 4 teams in the group and it was Moyle Rovers who finished in front. This Saturday’s semi-final pairings are St Patrick’s V Moyle Rovers and Thurles Sarsfields V Drom-Inch.
