Tipperary Camogie Development Committee have launched a new initiative in a bid to tackle the shortage of referees in Tipperary. The Young Whistlers Mentoring Programme was launched in the County Camogie Grounds on Friday night and in attendance were recently qualified Young Whistlers and 4 experienced referees who will act as their mentors TP O’Sullivan, Mike Ryan, Tommy Ryan and Paul Carew. The Young Whistlers will referee upcoming U12 games and will be mentored on the field by a qualified referee for their first few games.

The referees will be there to support the new referees as they begin their refereeing journey. The extra support and guidance will help the young referees to gain more confidence while receiving valuable feedback. It is hoped this will help to make it a more positive experience for the Young Whistlers and lead to a long career in refereeing. Other referees who will also be mentors include Siobhan Ryan, Caoimhe Bourke and Jim Leese.
