The Tipperary Camogie AGM was held on Tuesday evening December 7th. For the second year in succession the AGM took place online via Zoom with a large number of club representatives logging in. Chairperson Denis Lenihan opened the meeting by thanking everyone that attended. The minutes of last year’s annual general meeting were proposed and adopted. In his Chairperson’s address Denis Lenihan praised all the various management teams of the various county teams for all their efforts and success in 2021. He also thanked all his fellow officers and the various committees of Tipperary camogie for their dedication and work. He also thanked our main sponsor Evros and FBD Insurance who came on board this year for 3 years to sponsor the minor and adult club championships. He concluded by thanking Tipperary GAA and all the clubs for their support and help with facilities. Secretary Grainne Fogarty produced a very comprehensive report outlining all the camogie activity within the county both on and off the field. Similar to Denis her report thanked all the various people and committees that operate within the county. Treasurer Aine O’Donnell outlined the positive financial year where significant investment was made into the County Camogie Grounds in The Ragg. She thanked all of Tipperary Camogie’s sponsors who are critical in the continuing development of Tipperary Camogie. The following officers were then ratified for the incoming year.

The development, PRO and fixtures reports were also presented giving comprehensive insights into the huge work being done by volunteers and clubs in Tipperary. One of the highlights of Grainne O’Leary’s Development Officer report is the huge number of games being played at juvenile level with over 700 matches at U12 alone this year. Another highlight was the festival of camogie blitz in Dr Morris which saw 52 U8 and 48 U10 teams taking part. Outgoing PRO Philly Ryan highlighted all the areas of work undertaken by the PR group including the newly established YouTube Channel and the 19 podcasts which were produced during the year plus the growing coverage in our local media which he praised. In his fixtures report fixtures secretary Kieran Slattery who steps down this year highlights the challenges of another year with covid. He praised all the clubs who worked with the fixtures committee to get all the games played. He acknowledged and thanked all the referees within the county and highlighted that a shortage of referees is a problem within Tipperary camogie.
Before the meeting concluded President of the Camogie Association Hilda Breslin addressed those present. She spoke highly of all the work being done in Tipperary and said how the association was looking forward to 2022 after a difficult year with Covid.
