Drom-Inch 0-17 Silvermines 0-08
Drom-Inch march on to the FBD Insurance senior championship semi-final after coming through a very stern test against Silvermines. The game had the feel of real knockout championship and very little separated the sides in the opening 30 minutes with both teams bringing a huge intensity and physicality to the contest. Eimear McGrath opened Drom-Inch’s account with a pointed free the first of her impressive 8 points in total. This score was quickly cancelled out by a Brid Quinn point from play. Another Eimear McGrath free and a converted Brid Quinn 45m meant the sides were level at 2 points a piece on 10 minutes and again at the water-break 3 points each thanks to two excellent points from play by Drom-Inch’s Siobhan McGrath and Sarah Madden for Silvermines. By halftime the homeside had a slender 2 point lead thanks to 2 points in succession from Miriam Campion who put in a huge shift for the county champions. Brid Quinn and Eimear McGrath once again showed their accuracy from frees to leave the halftime score 7 points to 5 in Drom-Inch’s favour with all to play for in the second half.
The third quarter was where this game was won with Mary Burke setting the tempo with a superb point from play. Drom-Inch outscored the opposition in the opening 15 minutes of the second half 5 points to 1 to leave the score at the waterbreak 12 points to 6. Suddenly the game started to look beyond Silvermines reach as they found it harder and harder to break down the Drom-Inch defence where Maria Connolly, Maurean Ryan and Eimear Cahaill formed a really solid full backline. In the final quarter both teams continued to show great workrate but the Drom-Inch attack always looked that bit sharper with Eimear McGrath, Niamh Long and Michelle Woodlock all pointing to finish off some great moves. On the 27th minute Aisling Carey who was very good throughout the hour saved from a Michelle Woodlock shot denying the homeside a chance of a goal. A Sarah Madden point from play completed the scoring for Silvermines. Silvermines can be pleased with the excellent workrate and determination that they displayed for the full 60 minutes. They made life very hard for the county champions and got some great scores. They also had some excellent individual displays from Nicola Butler, Miriam Murphy, Sarah Madden and Brid Quinn. Eimear Murphy was a huge loss to them through injury in the second half. Unfortunately for them they came up against an excellent Drom-Inch side who look to be improving with every game and Silvermines will know scoring 8 points was never going to be enough to beat them. In a repeat of last year’s semi-final Drom-Inch will now face Cashel in the semi-final where another huge battle awaits.

Cashel 1:12 Thurles Sarsfields 0:14
Cashel came into Saturdays quarter final in Golden as favourites having topped group two. Everyone knew though Sarsfields wouldn’t go down without a fight having beaten Annacarty who had gone on to top group 1. A wild wind blew in Cashels favour in the first half in West Tipperary but it was Thurles that got off to the perfect start with two points from Roisin Corbett and Ciara Cummins in full flight.
With Cashel’s first attack they won a penalty which Karin Blair stood over but hit the upright but Anna Fahie was quick to react and left keeper Katie McCormack with no chance as she buried it into the top corner. Cashel continued to covert from frees and had 1:3 on the score sheet in the first 15 minutes. Thurles kept in touch and added a further two points which left two between them at the first water break.
Grace Moloney came into her own in the second quarter and took full advantage of the strong wind as she kept supply into Cashel’s full forward line but Aoife Butler and Niamh McCormack were a nightmare for any attack as they continued to stop the Cashel full forward line capitalising.
Half time saw Cashel take a lead of 4 points but a sense amongst spectators that the margins were closer than the score line implied. As the second half commenced the wind died down to a light breeze. Sarsfields needed to use their strength to make up for the lack of wind and so they did as Karen Kennedy broke through time and time again from the Sarsfields defence. Sarsfields looked to free taker Roisin Corbett to keep the scoreboard moving for the blues and she stood up to the task.
Aoibhe Gayson Molloy gave another inspirational display for Cashel at centre back. Cashel were worried in the second half as Sorcha Ryan went down injured for a number of minutes and Cashel knew they needed their colossal full back if they were to keep the Thurles forwards out from their much needed goal. A sense of relief amongst the Cashel team and supporters as Sorcha returned to her feet after her injury.
As the last waterbreak was called only two points separated the sides and it seemed the momentum was in favour of the Cathedral town as Roisin Corbett slotted over two points to draw the game. With one minute to go in real time it was all square in Golden and tensions were high. An Aoife O’Brien puckout landed on Grace Moloney who won a free which was delivered into the excellent Anna Fahie. Anna took on her player and pointed her 5th point from play for Cashel to win the game.
A sense of disbelief across Golden as within the discretion of the referee no additional time was played and the game ended on the 60th minute with a one point win for King Cormacs.
A great battle, a great game with the narrowest of margins deciding the winner. Cashel will now face Drom-Inch in the County Semi Final.

Annacarthy 3-17 Nenagh 1-08
This game was very close in the first half with only one score between the sides at halftime. If fact a good save from Annacarty goalie Aoife Butler denied Grace o Brien an equalising goal just before halftime. A early Jean Kelly Annacarty goal, while playing against the breeze, got them in front after Nenagh delayed clearing their lines.
A fitter Annacarty side took full control in the final quarter to end with a more comprehensive victory.

National Fixtures Survey.
The Camogie Association have issued a very worthwhile ‘Fixtures Survey’. Over the past two seasons, the Intercounty and Club Championships have been interupted by Covid 19 restrictions. What should Camogie Association do in 2022? The survey asks the following questions:
What would your preferred fixtures calendar look like? Would clubs, players, officials like the system as per pre-Covid
Intercounty -Littlewoods National league starting early Jan running through to championship finals in Sept with no set club window.
An Intercounty season first to finish by end August with club thereafter.
Club Championships only until end August with Inter-county thereafter.
Any other suggestions.
Also, when are the best times to play both the Intercounty Minor and Under 16 championships? As 16 year olds can play club championships, both Minor and Intercounty Under 16 have a big crossover. Also not specifically mentioned in this survey but relevant to many clubs and players in Tipperary are dual player issues and how Ladies Football seasons and fixtures link in or clash with Camogie seasons and fixtures.
