FBD Insurance Senior Championship

Drom-Inch 3-19   Thurles Sarsfields  0-09

Cashel 1-18 Nenagh 3-09

The match started with Cashel’s Anna Fahie scoring a very early goal but Nenagh goaled 1 minute after the first water break to tie at 1-4 each. Cashel got on top and led by 6 points at halftime but two Nenagh goals either side of the water break saw them lead by 2 with 13 minutes remaining. Cashel grafted out 6 more points with Karin Blair and Grace Moloney scoring from play and Nicole Shelley pivotal at centre forward.

In the final minute, Grace o Brien was pulled down resulting in a Nenagh 20m free. This free, which could have levelled the game, was saved.

Cashel Team: Aoife o Brien, Maeve Ellie Ryan, Ava Gayson Molloy, Ella o Dwyer, Amy Crosse, Laura Connolly, Lilie Fahie, Aine o Dwyer, Kaitlin Downey, Karin Blair, Nicole Shelley, Grace Moloney, Lucy Fogarty, Ciara Dwan, Anna Fahie.

Nenagh team: Niamh Sheridan, Michelle Collins, Ella Carey, Emer Ryan, Eabha o Brien, Kirsten Howard, Ruth Hassett, Zoe Grattan, Ciara McGrath, Lillie o Brien, Caoline Browne, Maeve Coffey, Lauren Spain, Grace o Brien, Ellen Spain.

Clonoulty 8-17 Toomevara 0-06

This game was crucial for both sides as the loser would exit the championship. Although Toomevara were without a point, Clonoulty on 1 win needed to win this ‘Head-to-head’ fixture. Clonoulty went about this task from the start and bliotzed Toome. Casey Hennessy got several goals in each half and Eimear Bourke and Kayleigh Davern were accurate from play with points. Clonoulty controlled this game from the start and never eased off and will now face Burgess / Duharra in the quarter final, an intriguing fixture.

FBD Insurance Intermediate and Junior A Championship Roundup!

Borrisoleigh 2-13 Kilruane McDonaghs 1-08

Kilruane opened the scoring but it was Borrisoleigh who led by 1-06 to 0-06 at halftime. Borrisoleigh extended their lead to five points but a Roisin Cahill goal gave Kilruane hope. A second Borrisoleigh goal sealed victory and with one round remaining, Borrisoleigh join Knockavilla as one of the favourites in the Intermediate grade.

Knockavilla 2-19 Shannon Rovers 1-09

Knockavilla continued their fabulous form since they were promoted to Intermediate ranks with Emer Heffernan excelling in the scoring stakes with Shannon Rovers having no answer for the skill and pace of County Seniors; Caoimhe McCormack, Emer Heffernan and Ereena Fryday.  Knockavilla played Caoimhe McCormack as a sweeper very effectively. Shannon Rovers did get a late consolation goal and never gave up in this game.

Knockavilla: Sheena Ryan, Ellie Hadnett, Megan McCormack, Leonie Farrell, Sinead Furlong, Beth Ryan, Holly Fitzgerald, Niamh Slattery, Caoimhe McCormack, Ereena Fryday, Eimear Gleeson, Sarah Ryan, Eimear Heffernan, Sarah Mai Crosse, Caoimhe McCormack.

Newport / Ballinahinch 1-12 Cahir 0-04

Newport had five different scorers of points from play in the first half with Alannah Mullaney, Shauna Curtin, Amy Quigley, Ciara Ryan and Saoirse McGrath all converting but it was a Keeley Lenihan 2nd half goal that really put this game beyond Cahir’s reach. Cahir now look destined to fill one of the 5th or 6th Plate positions and exit the Championship with the final round of games next weekend.

Brian Borus 0-11 Boherlahan 1-12

Played in Ballylooby on a uncharacteristically warm October’s evening, This was a real close battle from throw-in to the final whistle. Brian Boru’s Shona Maher opened the scoring with a clever point from an angle and the sides traded points to leave it 4 points to three for the visitors Boherlahan. Lisa o Connor was accurate from frees Eimear Moyles leading a very young Brian Borus side forward from midfield. 8 points to five halftime lead for Boherlahan was reduced to ‘all square’ at 44 minutes with the sides tied at 10 points all when Anna Murphy got the crucial goal for Boherlahan. Two blockdowns from Clodagh Horgan and Leah Kavanagh late in the game prevented Brian Boru’s getting the equalizing scores.

Drom-Inch 3-16  Kiladangan 2-14

In a very lively FBD Junior A championship encounter Drom-Inch and Kiladangan produced a high scoring free flowing game of camogie in Drom Village on Sunday morning. Drom-Inch have built some early momentum in this championship to date with two wins now in successive weeks away to Holycross and at home to Kiladangan. For a Kiladangan it was their second defeat from their opening 3 games with a loss to Templemore in the first round and a win against St Rita’s Fethard last weekend. There was very little between the sides throughout the hour but Drom’s greater spread of scorers the difference on the day. Sinead Meagher was in flying form for the visitors and a real leader in attack finishing with an impressive individual tally of 1-10. She was well assisted throughout the hour by Paula Kelly who was excellent in midfield. For Drom-Inch Eimear Shananhan’s two first half goals were crucial while Kate Fogarty at corner forward was a constant threat for the Kiladangan defence. Noirn Kirwan and Aine Greed were also influential throughout the hour as was Caroline Shanahan and Niamh Ryan. Kiladdnagan dominated at different stages of the game but could never push ahead of Drom. In the end Drom-Inch looked to be the better balanced team and succeeded in winning on a final score of 3-16 to 2-14.

Ballina 0-09 Moneygall 0-12

A very tight game saw Moneygall remain joint top of their group with Boherlahan and Ballina still to get their first win. With just 4 teams in Group 2, all four will contest the November 14th Quarter finals but placings are important to avoid the form teams in Group 1.

St Ritas Fethard 0-10 Templemore 3-09

Templemore recorded another win after previously pipping Kiladangan, so have adapted really quickly to Junior A ranks after winning Junior B title. St Ritas do not have all the players available that they had in 2020
